Although George HW Bush started in real spooky politics back in the Kennedy Assassination days down in Texas, when he was first rewarded with heading up the Republican Party, and which culminated on the surface as heading up the CIA after the Watergate resignation of Nixon, not much appears to have changed over the years. Even the power-personnel today is much the same since the Iran-Contra days. Scooping The Spooks Looking for damning evidence to support a war? Try calling the Office of Special Plans (OSP). Staffed by top Pentagon hawks, the OSP offers the National Security Council and the president's closest advisers an alternative to the CIA. OSP doesn't always run their reports by other intelligence agencies. Although responsible for much of the questionable information used to justify the war in Iraq, OSP has received scant media attention. Respectable sources like The New Yorker (re-printed in CommonDreams.org)and The Guardian have raised concerns about OSP's role. And a couple of Congress members have questioned OSP activities, but so far no investigations. Perhaps this will change with a soon-to-be-released report by the CIA revealing that OSP manipulated reams of intelligence before handing it over to top White House officials. If indeed the talkingpoints source's comment even includes the latter, what does that say about which CIA? The off-the-shelf CIA (still) operated by the George HW Bush regime (see the "New American Century"), or a break-away bureaucracy that we taxpayers think we're paying for anyhow? If there really is "hostility" between the George W Bush White House and the break-away bureaucracy CIA, what will happen to whom? And by whom will a magic bullet be fired? If the off-the-shelf CIA does the firing, who might be the target? If "a whole series of stories which are ready to break" is the ammo, well, it just gets more interesting every day. I spent a summer and fall in Alexandria, and very easily learned to love Washington, D.C. Sometimes I still miss it, and then a story like this one comes along, and I feel like I'm walking out onto my townhouse porch and picking up my fresh copy of the Washington Post - I mean the sun is glistening off the snow in a tree, and I can still smell the fresh ink. Among the nuggets in the "not a fact checker" sub-plot is a link to ERIC MARGOLIS who wrote in his Toronto Sun article titled Bush deserves to be impeached, "The jolly little wars against Afghanistan and Iraq were also designed to make Americans forget the Bush White House had been caught with its pants down by 9/11, and was asleep at the switch in the Enron financial disaster." Waitaminute. It seems as though Eric (probably in his mid 50s is experiencing a "senior moment") as he momentarily implies that the Bush White House had no advance knowledge of 911. Also it looks as though Enron is being given some significance status. The connection between the Enron, the FARC and the Bush White House is solid - as in the kind of stuff indictments are made of - where convictions are made and guilty parties go to jail. But then you hafta consider that John Ashcroft is heading up the Department of Justice, so all Bush-Texas-Enron "conviction" bets are off. Compared to the Afghanistan pipeline which had nothing to do with Enron, the California energy crisis is a mere blip on the screen but which had everything to do with Enron, Cheney, the Bush White House. the (pre-911) energy policy, and more - there is a full-circle link here, but at some point Enron gets spun off. With or without Enron not all of the twists and turns in the California energy crisis combined hold a candle to the Bush White House prior knowledge of 911 incident, and how they let it happen OR did nothing to stop it. What diff? Who killed JFK? Where is Jimmy Hoffa really buried? Of the two questions, the prior is easier to answer accurately without being written off as a conspiracy theorist. It ain't about "theory" that we already know the Bush White House did indeed have advance warnings of 911, and they were careful to keep their heads down 'til it was over. Please, do not require me to cite the over 400 references that authenticate that simple statement beyond saying the sun rises in the east and sets in the west - even though some would argue that the sun is stationery and it is the planet (Earth) revolving clock-wise or from west to east that gives the allusion of a sunrise or sunset or as Jackson Thoreau wrote in a recent liberalslant.com article titled U.S. media still refuses to mention Bush sexual assault lawsuit, "Gimme a fucking break!" On September 10, 2001, our front burner issues were Palestine and Election 2000, and how significant (the State of) Florida and the Florida Republicans were for both the stopping the vote count, and depriving voters ballot box access, and the U.S. Supreme Court's wholly unlawful intervention; who by a 5-4 decision "selected" George W Bush as President over Gore's dead but elected body. And then in the rubble of 911, and now in giving us our day our daily dead in Iraq, (mostly) blacks being deprived of the voting franchise in Florida is no longer the issue, not even for blacks, and which left unresolved could be a problem in the future where future elections are concerned. Meanwhile back at Eric's Bush deserves to be impeached article, the U.S. media did amplify White House propaganda so's to ease us all into the Iraq war. Michael Moore's documentary, Bowling for Colombine, wins at France's prestigious awards ceremony in Paris.
In his acceptance speech Moore thanked France for "having the courage to stand up and say no" to US plans to attack Iraq. "One of the best definitions of an ally, of a friend, is that your friend is the one who can tell you when you're wrong," he said. "So thank you for showing us the way, for standing up and for something very important... I want to let you know that there are tens of millions of Americans who feel the same way." Moroccan artists pay tribute to US anti-war stars. "We praise the courage of American stars who said no to war in Iraq," said Mohamed Bakrim, secretary general of the association of the Casablanca cinema festival. Bush: The Fictitious President Michael Moore, one of the first signatories of the "Not in my name" appeal, symbolizes resistance to war and to violence, he said adding "with their commitment against war, American stars have given another image of America." Michael criticized Bush and the USUK war in Iraq, during his Oscar acceptance speech at the Academy Awards. The documentary maker who won his first Oscar Sunday for Bowling for Columbine, had said "We live in the time where we have fictitious election results that elect a fictitious president. We live in a time where we have a man who's sending us to war for fictitious reasons, whether it's the fiction of duct tape or the fiction of orange alerts. We are against this war, Mr. Bush! Shame on you, Mr. Bush! Shame on you!" Michael Moore to Tackle Bush/bin LadenTies in Next Doc Michael Moore will depict alleged dealings between two generations of the Bush and bin Laden families in his next documentary "Fahrenheit 911." "The primary thrust of the new film is what has happened to the country since Sept. 11, and how the Bush administration used this tragic event to push its agenda," Moore tells Variety . "It certainly does deal with the Bush and bin Laden ties. It asks a number of questions that I don't have the answers to yet, but which I intend to find out." The documentary will suggest that the business dealings between George Bush and Osama bin Laden's late father led to George W. Bush and Osama bin Laden becoming mortal enemies. "The senior Bush kept his ties with the bin Laden family up until two months after Sept. 11," Moore says. "The bin Ladens invested heavily in the Carlyle Group, which has its hands in a number of pies and is the 11th largest defense contractor even though it mostly buys failing defense companies and sells them for profits." |
