15MAR2003 America at the crossroads: War is not the answer by Minister Louis Farrakhan Ed. note: Since even before the assassination of Malcolm X, neither the Honorable Elijah Muhammad nor Louie Farrakhan have been on my list of favorites. In fact their choice to change the course of history by giving the nod for Malcolm to be murdered is part and parcel to the end result of what we see as newspaper headlines today. It is merely speculation based on pure logic and a Sufi-like love for God Alone that says had Malcolm lived (and MLK), we as a nation would not be in the pickle we're in today. Fact is, what went around came around. Although except as God wills, Farrakhan is after-life toast, but that doesn't take away from some of the intentionally honest warnings given in his latest rant. What is most surprising to me in this article is that what he is saying needed not be said to Muslims - no matter Black Muslims or Arab-American Muslims (Shi'ah or Sunni) and even most black people. Muslim or not, any half way hip who lived in the 1950s and survived the 1960s already know on their hearts that what Farrakhan is saying (today) has already been true for as long as any of us can remember. Personally, I have been consciously aware since 1979 of what was on my heart in 1964 when Malcolm got off that plane after returning from his Pilgrimage (haj) to Mecca. Malcolm was exposed to true Islam and was among white people who he said, "treated him with kindness and equality." Malcolm told reporters upon his return, "In the past, I committed myself to the indictment of all whites. But no longer do I subscribe to a sweeping indictment of any race." Anyhow, check it out. In the "America" most of share an either/or vision for, some things Farrakhan is saying brings some clarity and insight to that vision. Preaching to the choir is one thing, but what he is saying may also be food for thought for the truly thoughtful, to re-coin the phrase of a friend... Says Farrakhan: "Every president since Reagan has had some altercation with the Muslim world. President Bush says he's not against Islam; he's against the "radicals in Islam". It is true that there are radicals that have hijacked Islam. But I want to say to Mr. Bush, you are a radical that has hijacked Christianity. I want to say to (Ariel) Sharon, (Benyamin) Netanyahu and that crowd, you are a group that claims to be Jews but you have hijacked Judaism. It is time now for the righteous Jews to stand up; the righteous Christians to stand up; the righteous Muslims to stand up against those who have hijacked our religion." [MORE] Ed. note: In another "religious" and editorial chime we say, God bless the French for the position they took against the Bush war! and God bless the Dixie Chicks for going on-record that they too are ashamed that the president of the United States is from Texas! Beyond being an embarrassment to Texans, Bush is a disgrace to all Americans of good conscience! |

For the sake of true patriotism, visit France, or go French-kiss someone, and buy a few Dixie Chicks CDs. 14MAR2003 Whose War? by Patrick J. Buchanan Ed. note: Special thanks to one of our readers who sent along this "American Conservative" piece. I had searched around on the Internet for more than an hour last night trying to find something (recent) of Pap Buchanan's thinking because I saw him on a news program earlier in the day. It is opportunistic of The Puke to take his anti-Israel position because he is at heart anti-Semitic - I mean, "religiously" anti-Semitic - as Hitler was and as Mel Gibson (the actor of Conspiracy Theory and Braveheart fame) is. Never mind that Gibson is producing/directing and starring in a Hollywood movie that revives the olde Roman Catholic Church line that the Jews killed Jesus. Never mind that the Church backed off from that position some years ago and thereby leaving the blood of Jesus on the hands of the Roman Empire's governors of the day. Never mind that PB is a Roman Catholic from the olde school. There are enough Bible lessons to go around, so don't get me started... Meanwhile, back at Pat and his view of present day Jews and/or Israeli and/or Zionists (or a combination of the three) cahootsed with the right wing neo-conservative fundamentalist goof ball faction; on this score he is correct. Whoever that combination of people are, and whatever un-named political-military club they belong to have then cahootsed with the Bush White House in the Spirit of the Satanic Church of the American Flag. To the degree PB is anti-Trotsky, anti-Socialist (and anti-social) goes a long way toward explaining why he too is a likely candidate for membership in the (fascistic) Satanic Church of the American Flag. God knows, authentic Muslims are not anti-Semitic in the first 10,000 places. One need not be anti-Semitic to have serious issues with the Israeli and/or the Zionists where Palestine and the Palestinians is concerned. Not so separately from the Palestinian issue exists a serious issue with the Jews but not about their practiced "faith" per say or heritage, or ancestry; rather about their silence and their looking the other way while the Palestinians have been abused at the hands of the Israeli and Zionists for all these years - really no different than the behavior of the "good" Germans* who looked the other way when the Nazis were doing their evil number on the European Jews. To understand Usama bin Laden (also anti-Trotsky, anti-Socialist and anti-social), and what makes Usama tick, some lessons can be learned by understanding where Pat Buchanan is coming from. They both within context make points on matters that can't be denied while at the same time the battle they both wage as "crusade" or "jihad" fit quite right together. Unfortunately for all mankind, there are just enough Pats and Usamas in the world at war with their respective opposites to make life miserable for the rest of us. If you read the Usama bin Laden transcript and Pat's "Whose War?" article, it will not be difficult to see how much these guys have in common, and how the win-or-lose Bush War on Iraq plays best for Usama's particular brand of misery-making and Pat's kind of "I told you so" that plays well for future Presidential candidates. A neoconservative clique seeks to ensnare our country in a series of wars that are not in Americas interest.
The War Party may have gotten its war. But it has also gotten something it did not bargain for. Its membership lists and associations have been exposed and its motives challenged. In a rare moment in U.S. journalism, Tim Russert put this question directly to Richard Perle: Can you assure American viewers ... that were in this situation against Saddam Hussein and his removal for American security interests? And what would be the link in terms of Israel?
Suddenly, the Israeli connection is on the table, and the War Party is not amused. Finding themselves in an unanticipated firefight, our neoconservative friends are doing what comes naturally, seeking student deferments from political combat by claiming the status of a persecuted minority group. People who claim to be writing the foreign policy of the world superpower, one would think, would be a little more manly in the schoolyard of politics. Not so. Former Wall Street Journal editor Max Boot kicked off the campaign. When these Buchananites toss around neoconservativeand cite names like Wolfowitz and Cohenit sometimes sounds as if what they really mean is Jewish conservative. Yet Boot readily concedes that a passionate attachment to Israel is a key tenet of neoconservatism. He also claims that the National Security Strategy of President Bush sounds as if it could have come straight out from the pages of Commentary magazine, the neocon bible. (For the uninitiated, Commentary, the bible in which Boot seeks divine guidance, is the monthly of the American Jewish Committee.) David Brooks of the Weekly Standard wails that attacks based on the Israel tie have put him through personal hell: Now I get a steady stream of anti-Semitic screeds in my e-mail, my voicemail and in my mailbox. ... Anti-Semitism is alive and thriving. Its just that its epicenter is no longer on the Buchananite Right, but on the peace-movement left. [MORE] *Ed. note 30APR2003 Update: Within the past day or two, we learned of the following article, which might cause any thoughtful person to re-evaluate any pre-conceived notions one might have about the "Good Germans" and how they were eased into the Nazi trap before the jaws clamped down. There is no apology here for what the Germans did in their looking the other way and remaining silent as Jews first lost their civil rights, and then their human rights, and to the exact same degree as the ordinary German people first lost their sense of humanity and then lost all semblance of humanity in their homeland.Today in the United States, we have Homeland Security, which in and of itself sounds like an ok deal, while in fact it is a variation of the same Nazi "trap" that the Germans fell into... Richard L. Clinton wrote in the April 4th edition of OregonLive, "Two old friends of mine - a Jewish couple in their 80s, both retired university professors who fled Nazi Germany in the late 1930s and eventually became U.S. citizens - made a stunning remark to me a few months ago: 'You know, all our lives we have blamed our parents and our parents' generation for allowing Hitler to gain control. Now we're beginning to see how powerless they must have felt to stop what was happening all around them.'" "My friends' melancholy comment came back to me and a palpable chill ran down my spine when I read about the Gestapo-style arrest of U.S. citizen Maher "Mike" Hawash. Two weeks ago, police took the 38-year-old Intel software contractor from his Hillsboro home and put him in solitary confinement (according to his wife) in a federal prison. No charges have been filed against him, and his attorneys reportedly are forbidden to discuss the case. What is happening to our country?" Klare. 12MAR2003 Some see Iraq war in Scripture Fundamentalists say the end is near By Bill Hillburg Washington Bureau WASHINGTON -- For millions of Americans, the looming war with Iraq is far more than an effort to eliminate a dictator and his weapons of mass destruction. Citing Scripture, they fervently believe that the conflict is yet another strong sign that the end of time is approaching. Christian conservatives who adhere to a strict literal interpretation of the Bible see ample indications of fulfilled prophecies in the Middle East conflict and strongly back President George W. Bush's war plans. "This is part of the overall picture of what the end times will look like," said Manuel Gonzalez, pastor of the Calvary Chapel in Chatsworth. "The stage is being set." The end scenario, say Christian conservatives, is clearly laid out in the Bible. The events, centered in Israel and nearby nations including Iraq, include seven years of violent upheaval culminating in Armageddon, a battle between good and evil. A returned and victorious Jesus Christ would then rule the Earth for 1,000 years before rendering a final judgment. Adherents further believe that they would be spared the violence of the end times by being transported to heaven in a phenomenon called "the rapture." Such beliefs have led to strong conservative-Christian support for Israel as well for Bush's Middle East and anti-terrorism policies. Warren Duffy of Huntington Beach, host of "Duffy and Co., Live From L.A." on Glendale's KKLA-FM, said he firmly believes in prophecy and argued that Christian conservatives are misunderstood, especially by the mass media. "If you can get beyond all the rhetoric, we are just people who believe the Bible is true, and the Bible is 35 percent prophecy," said Duffy, whose drive-time show includes guest interviews and listener call-ins on KKLA, which bills itself as the nation's top-rated Christian radio outlet. He cited interest among his listeners in the Iraq crisis and other events in the Middle East, but stressed that "we're not cheering this war on. "We're probably, all of us, going to die and go to (Jesus) before He comes for us," added Duffy, who said he saw more portents of the end of time in growing lawlessness in American society than he did in a war with Iraq. Still, as the crisis with Iraq has deepened, Christian-right Internet Web sites have filled with speculation about fulfilled prophecies, citing Saddam Hussein as the Antichrist and noting direct links between modern Iraq and Biblical references to ancient Babylon. Most leaders of moderate mainline Christian denominations have taken an anti-war stance, and some even have intimated that as they pray for peace, the conservatives appear to be praying for war. That charge is denied by Christian conservatives. "I don't know any Christian who wants war to happen," said Gonzalez, of the Calvary Chapel. "We hope that President Bush has made the right decision and pray for him every day that God will guide him." But some other Christians hold sharply contrasting views. "I think the Christian right has misread the Bible," said leading peace advocate Bob Edgar, general secretary of the National Council of Churches, which includes 36 Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox denominations. "They see a Messiah who leads an army and kills the bad guys, we see Jesus coming as a man of peace." Edgar, who from 1990 to 2000 was president of the Claremont School of Theology, the United Methodist Church seminary and training center in Los Angeles County, added: "Bush has won his war. The inspectors are in Iraq. If they need more time or more inspectors, give it to them. There is no need for armed conflict." Christian conservatives say some of their critics are off the mark. "I don't think war with Iraq has to do primarily with Armageddon," said Dr. R.L. Hymers of Sunland, founding pastor of the Fundamentalist Baptist Tabernacle in Los Angeles, "but it is a step, just as World War I and World War II were steps." Saying that "sometimes Christians jump too quick to judgments," Hymers recalled that "I once thought the world was going to end in 1964. You had Vietnam, the Beatles, hippies and flag burners. I was obviously wrong." "People think that if you're a Christian, someone must have cut a hole in your head and poured your brains out," said Rep. Gary Miller, R-Diamond Bar. Miller, who supports Bush on Iraq, is an active member of Calvary Chapel, one of the nation's fastest growing conservative Christian ministries. While citing his adherence to literal interpretation of the Bible, Miller said his faith has had no direct bearing on his support of Bush. "When I voted to authorize the use of force by the president, I didn't think about the Book of Daniel or the Book of Revelation," he said. "This is about Saddam Hussein, and he brought this upon himself." "We very much support the president's war on terrorism," said Ronn Torossian, media director of the Christian Coalition, a group founded by televangelist Pat Robertson. "And we urge all naysayers to recall the horrible events of Sept. 11, 2001." Asked if his group's support for Bush's war aims is directly tied to prophecy, Torossian declined to give a direct answer but said, "Everything we do is because of Scripture. It's because of Scripture that we support the state of Israel." For Jewish leaders, Christian conservative support for Israel and interest in Middle East events is a mixed blessing. "We appreciate their positions on the Middle East, but we do not go into an alliance with them on domestic politics," said Eugene Korn, director of interfaith affairs for the Anti-Defamation League, a group that supports Israel and battles anti-Semitism. "And their concept of Armageddon makes many, many Jews very uncomfortable. After all, it calls for us to convert to Christianity or be destroyed." Korn noted that, in the Jewish tradition, scripture is to be interpreted, not taken literally. And he stressed that the Jewish end scenario calls for the onset of a Messianic Era and a world permanently freed of hatred and conflict. "We believe in the Messianic Era," said Korn. "We just haven't made a religion out of it." "We would like to think that our churches view the Gospel as one of justice and peace," said Jim Wetekam, spokesman for Churches United for Middle East Peace, a group of 17 mainline Protestant and Roman Catholic denominations and organizations, including the NCC. "Peace is always preferable to war." Both Wetekam and Edgar stressed that, for Catholics and mainline Protestant believers, the end of time also calls for a last judgment but without conservative Christian prophesies of warfare, bloodshed and upheaval. "You get the impression that some fundamentalists are disappointed that Jesus came among us as an infant and as a man of peace instead of at the head of an army," said Edgar, who sought to end U.S. involvement in Vietnam as a Democratic House member and recently returned from a "humanitarian inspection mission" to Iraq. Edgar blamed some of the religious fervor over a possible war with Iraq on "people who like simplistic answers. God comes back with his army, the good guys are saved and the bad guys are destroyed." He also blamed "some preachers who prey on the fear of people. There's been plenty of fear to exploit since 9-11." 11MAR2003 Swami Beyondananda's 2003 State of the Universe Address Hello everybody -- it is great to be here ... and you know what? We really have no choice. Because no matter where we are, we are always here. And it is always now. In fact, there's even a book called The Power of Now. I haven't had time to read it yet, but I hope to get to it in a later now. Meanwhile, back in this now, the issue facing the United States, and indeed the world is, will George Bush give in to his Big Iraq Attack and order up a war? Latest reports say that a war to force a regime change in Iraq will cost $200 billion. It is puzzling to me why some of those fiscal fitness fanatics in the Republican Party haven't tried to find a cheaper way to do it. Maybe if they offered the Iraqis half -- $100 billion -- they could do it themselves. Then we'd still have $100 billion left to spend on regime change in this country. How did this happen? ![]() In November 2001, it was a stand off between the Reds (Bush) and the Blues (Gore). The Reds won by having control of vote count in Florida and using the Supreme Court of the United States to steal the election from the Blues. Over the past 150 years, the white southerners (Reds) migrated from to every state, infecting the non-southern states with their "uniquely southern" racism and bigotry, and perverse interpretation of Christianity and our First Amendment religious experience in America. The Confederacy, besides being a de-unifying factor in our American community and ripping the guts out of what "community" might have ever been at its best, also brought us the very kind of religious pukery that justified slavery and segregration, and preferential treatment for the priviliged and discrimination against non-whites and women. As you can see by the map, while the "Bible Belt" Confederacy has quasi-homogenized into the rest of the United States, and above the Mason-Dixon line, it is also true that there are good American citizens with strongholds throughout the country, even in the Olde South, Texas and Florida. Then, along came 911... Some say that world terrorists and the Germans and the French hate America or the United States. That isn't true. They hate what the Olde South and the Ugly Americans who presently occupy the White House stand for, "One Nation Under Fascism". Even though nearly half the U.S. citizenry is comfortable with a Reagan-type racism and bigotry, the majority of us are not, just as even a greater majority of world citizens aren't. American citizens and world citizens alike believe in Liberty and Justice for All, and Freedom, for the United States, for Iraq, and for Palestine. How much longer shall we be deprived? ![]() Book by Michael Blake 09MAR2003 "That boy (the President) has got shit in his veins!" Most people are consciously aware of their true conscience and act accordingly. In the case of Geroge W Bush, who professes to be a Christian but by whose actions we can see is either a hypocrite at moral best or a manifestation of Satan himself, is also suicidal. Unfortuantely, in his own self-hatred and personally deserving of his own worst nightmare, Bush seems hell-bent on taking the rest of the world with him, literally. PINKCould his "condition" be written off to his shooting some kind of dope? Snorting some kind of cocaine? Drinking some kind of Ripple wine? At best, this is the bahavior of a dry drunk. At worst, the President of the United States is no better than Saddam, a madman and homocidal to boot. Before God and all mankind, Bush (not the people he is taking his orders from), acting as President of the United States is responsible for his irresponsible actions. Most recently was his televised news conference in which he lied to the American people and he lied to the people of the whole wide world when he would have us believe he did not intend to take us to war. He lied. He and Elliott Abrams, Kenneth Adelman, Richard Lee Armitage, John Ashcroft, James Baker, Brad Blakeman, Lincoln Bloomfield, Samuel Bodman, John Bolton, Joshua Bolten, Jeb Bush, George HW Bush, Stephen Cambone, Frank Carlucci, Big Dick Cheney and his disgusting wife Lynne, Michael Chertoff, Bonnie Cohen, Eliot Cohen, Ann Coulter, Richard Darman, Ruth Davis, Tom DeLay, Lou Dobbs, Alexander Downer, Andrew Fastow, Douglas Feith, Ari Fleischer, David Frum, Reuel Marc Gerecht, Christopher Gersten, Ranaan Gissin, Joseph Gildenhorn, Dore Gold, Steve Goldsmith, Adam Goldman, Franklin Graham, Marc Grossman, Richard Haass, Shaun Hannity, Katherine Harris, Anthony Kennedy, Henry Kissinger, Larry Kudlow, Bill Kristol, Ken Lay, Michael Ledeen, Jay Lefkowitz, Arthur Levitt, I. Certainly what appears to be the insane behavior of George Bush is not that of a clean and sober man. [To be continued] *The first "official" act of censorship and an attack on Free Speech and Free Press has been invoked by the lawyers of Big Dick Cheney. This matter was brought to our attention by the Politech list, in which there is a link to a White House Parody site featuring Lynn Cheney as a crystal meth freak but which is 100% likely to be absolutely untrue, as they say... 08MAR2003 slow-death-dot-com The U.S. Economy - A first rough draft Ed. note: The Bush White House invasion of Iraq (and as a source of future "resources" to pay for the war) is making a mockery of capitalism and business. The whole free world should be worried. Karl Marx once said, "The kapitalist will sell the rope to hang themselves." In the case of the Bush White House (as so-called capitalists passing themselves off as businessmen), olde Karl was right on! Bush & Company are conducting such a raid on the U.S. Treasury for the benefit of making the rich richer at the expense ordinary workers and small business owners - taxpayers all. The American corporate community, becoming more global on a daily basis in that while they occupy just enough office space in the United States to get the perks, they also operate "off-shore" to avoid paying taxes, and they hire their labor force in any country except the U.S. in order to avoid paying the kind of "living wage" American workers require. Health care, the environmental and workplace safety considerations are also issues the U.S. corporations can avoid by operating in their socially irresponsible manner. The intended Bush war on Iraq is no good for anyone; working people, small and larger businesses, even the nonmilitary related onshore corporations whose workers are Americans are suffering over the domestic (economic) policies of the Bush White House - serving the global corporations and his Military Industrial Complex buddies and their Israeli outposters) at the expense of ordinary Americans. In the Bush handling of the Florida election, Enron, 911, Iraq and North Korea, he has nearly single handed killed Wall Street. The dollar is dropping like a stone. Over disagreements with "old" Europe, NATO is (future) history. Trade with the E.U. should follow the way of NATO as the U.S. becomes isolationist and empire builder at the same time - hoping to pay for the misadventure at taxpayer expense and with spoils gleaned from the Iraq war. It won't add up at the end of the day. The U.S. taxpayer can't afford a protracted Bush war (the Republicans will have to borrow from the future in the future, and from Social Security and Health Care in the immediate), and there isn't enough production capacity in Iraq to pay for the war (in Iraq) and the clean up aftermath, particularly after the Bush White House crowd takes their cut. Hitler financed the Nazi regime off of "resources" gleaned from the Jewish economy throughout Europe at the time. Hitler's being anti-Semitic was a mere (and coincidental) convenience that justified his terrible deeds. Killing the Jews was just a cover-up for what universal Fascism ultimately requires of its subjects, starting domestically with Martin Niemoller 1892-1984. The Satanic Church of the American Flag (religious right wing fundamentalist hypocrites) "list" of those to whom a final solution (domestically) fits starts with all non-whites. By religious right wing fundamentalist hypocrite definition, neither the unionists or Jews are considered white. "After the first round of usual suspects are disposed of..." "And since I still had a nice job over at the police department and lived in a stick house, when we started rounding up the poor whites, troublesome trailer trash and known war protesters..." Globally, the Iraqi are as expendable to the Bush White House as the Jews were to Hitler. [To be continued] Also see An Essay on Fascism archived as zxm139 And see Bush as Fuhrer |

In his acceptance speech Moore thanked France for "having the courage to stand up and say no" to US plans to attack Iraq. "One of the best definitions of an ally, of a friend, is that your friend is the one who can tell you when you're wrong," he said. "So thank you for showing us the way, for standing up and for something very important... I want to let you know that there are tens of millions of Americans who feel the same way." |

800 American professors sign document warning of Israeli ethnic cleansing
We join with our Israeli colleagues in calling for vigilance as events unfold in Israel and the Occupied Territories. With an average of more than $10 million dollars per day of American tax dollars going to Israel, we believe Americans cannot remain silent while crimes as abhorrent as ethnic cleansing are being openly advocated. We urge our government to communicate clearly to the government of Israel that the expulsion of people according to race, religion or nationality would constitute crimes against humanity and will not be tolerated. For more information about the U.S. letter, including instructions on how to sign it, see: www.professorsofconscience.org. |
