A newspaper is not just for reporting news, it's to get people mad enough to do something about it. -- Mark Twain

07 NOV 2002 After Iraq, Sharon calls for the destruction of Iran Sharon told The Times that he considers Iran to be a "centre of world terror", and that as soon as an Iraq conflict was concluded, he would push for Iran to be at the top of the "to do" list. Sharon said: "I talked about these things with (Russian president) Vladimir Putin a few days ago and I have been to Washington, and one of the things I talked about was what will be later, if Iraq is going to be disarmed. "One of the things I mentioned is that the free world should take all the necessary steps to prevent irresponsible countries from having weapons of mass destruction, Iran, Iraq of course, and Libya is working on a nuclear weapon." "Iran makes every effort to possess weapons of mass destruction on the one hand, and ballistic missiles. That is a danger to the Middle East, to Israel, and a danger to Europe," Sharon told The Times. Douglas Davis of the Jerusalem Post reported that Sharon would call on the international community to turn its attention to Iran "the day after" action against Iraq is over. As reported by The Straits Times, Sharon claimed that Iran has sent rockets to Lebanon via Syria, and was a problem in Palestinian areas, where Iranian money supports extremists. Extremists? In the London Times interview, Sharon also accused Iran of smuggling arms to the Palestinian Authority and of trying to turn Israel's one million Arab citizens against the Jewish State. German, French and British officials have distanced themselves from any Israeli talk about military action taken to be taken against Iran as the "next target" of world pressure after the conclusion of the new Iraq war. Britain's Foreign Secretary said it would be the "gravest possible error" to back calls by Sharon for the international community to target Iran as soon as any war with Iraq blah blah blah...
