16APR2002 U.S. Accuses China - China accuses U.S. In a tit-for-tat exchange, China listed every known crime the US has ever committed except George WWIII & Company's theft of the American peoples democracy during the course of the 2000 Presidential Election. Also, there was no mention of US complicity with the Israeli in recent anti-Arafat activities that included the massacre of Palestinians at Jenin, the US attempt to overthrow Castro (again) by shutting down his oil supply from Venezuela with a coup but which failed, but the Chinese did list every other known U.S. crime in recent times. The entire accusation can be read on the Communist Chinese website. But not to be out done, Human Rights Watch has also chimed in against both China and the U.S. Thanks to Declan's Politech for this one. 16APR2002 Bill Bennett Prediction for demise of Israel? In an interview with CNN's Paula Zahn on Monday, April 15th, Bill Bennett quoted one of his "Jewish friends" as saying their greatest worry is that "in five years, Israel (as real estate) will not exist." 15APR2002 George WWIII & Company Fails Coup Attempt in Venezuela Thanks to Frontlines Staffers Oil, oil, oil!! - A timeline: This was the fastest turnaround in the history of Venezuela and probably of Latin America. In less than three days, democratically-elected Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez was overthrown by a coup and arrested, his successor in turn was overthrown by Chavez supporters. These are the chronology of events: Thursday, April 11: - Business and union leaders demand the resignation of President Hugo Chavez before a crowd of 50,000 people. The government urges supporters to back Chavez. - Chavez orders a suspension of broadcasts by private television networks opposed to him who were openly calling for a coup. - Pro-government and opposition demonstrators face off in Caracas. At least 15 people are killed and almost 100 are wounded. The responsibility seemed to be of police forces in plainclothes who shot demonstrators as part of a scheme to justify a military coup. - A group of 10 top military officials declare their opposition to Chavez. - Leading military officials in the Chavez government announce their resignation. Friday, April 12: - Army commander General Efrain Vazquez announces that Chavez wants to resign. It is announced that business leader Pedro Carmona will replace him. Carmona is the President of one of the affiliate organizations of the largest employees' federation: Fedecamaras. - Carmona assumes power and announces new presidential elections in a year. - Latin American leaders meeting in Costa Rica for a trade summit denounce the breakdown of constitutional order in Venezuela. - The interim government announces a reorganization of institutions of power. Dissolves the National Assembly and suspend members of the comptrollers' office and judges loyal to the Constitutional powers. - Carmona revokes 49 controversial laws adopted during Chavez's tenure, including laws benefiting peasants and poor neighborhoods. Saturday, April 13: - Disturbances break out in the capital and other parts of country. At least three people are killed. Commandos loyal to Chavez take over a number of radio and TV stations. Weapons are distributed in the poor neighborhoods by military officers loyal to Chavez. Committees of Chavez' political forces call for meetings to organize protests. - The commander of a brigade of paratroopers in Maracay refuses to recognize orders of the interim government. - Chavez is transferred to the island of Orchila, in the Caribbean Sea. - Hundreds of supporters of Chavez march towards the presidential palace. People join in and close to downtown they are about 10,000. They clashed with police forces. - Carmona takes refuge at Tiuna Fort, southwest of Caracas when close to 50,000 people surrender the government palace and troops loyal to Chavez take over the buildings. - Members of the Chavez cabinet install themselves in the residential palace. - Carmona, in an attempt to mediate the collapse of his government, announces the restoration of the National Assembly. - The Chavez cabinet holds a meeting in the presidential palace. - Hector Navarro, the higher education minister in the Chavez cabinet, says loyal forces demanded the president's release before 0200 GMT on Sunday to avoid military action. - Carmona resigns the interim presidency. - Diosdado Cabello, vice president in the Chavez government, is sworn in as acting president. A fax with Chavez handwriting is showed and distributed to the media. The message, signed by Chavez states that he has not resigned. - Carmona is arrested along with his cabinet and general staff. - General Lucas Rincon returns to the post of armed forces commander. - Cabello promises to restore constitutional order and assures his presidential tenure will be brief. - A delegation of supporters travels to the island of Orchila to bring Chavez back to Caracas. Sunday, April 14: - Chavez leaves Orchila Island aboard a helicopter and heads to Caracas, according to Labor Minister Maria Cristina Iglesias. - 250,000 are already around the government palace of Miraflores supporting Chavez. The crowd will grow to more than 400,000 as they wait for the return of the President. - Chavez arrives to the Miraflores palace and addresses the country through radio and TV. He narrates his arrest and how middle and low officers of the troops commanded by those who organized the coup told him they support his government. He congratulates the loyal military and a kid who was the one smuggling and faxing the message he sent announcing that he did not resign. - Chavez speaks to the crowd waiting outside from one of the balconies of the Miraflores Palace. - He promises no reprisals, calls for them not to hate and let themselves to be caught into the trap by lies. He states that the government will take full control of the situation in the next 24 hours. It is obvious that the US embassy and the Bush administration were involved supporting the coup. Ari Fleischer announced the willingness to work with the "new government" as soon as the overthrow of Chavez was first announced. Two days before the coup, the White House distributed both in Washington and Caracas, documents critical of Chavez and announcing a number of measures to isolate him diplomatically. The Bush administration was furious with Chavez over his relations with Cuba, his sharp criticisms of the bombing of Afghanistan, his opposition to the "Plan Colombia" and, above all, for what the White House described as "using Venezuela's large oil and gas reserves as a political weapon." Venezuela is the largest provider of oil to the US. They presently provide the US with 15% of all oil imported. Ed. Tonight we offer a detailed blow-by-blow analysis of what happened in Venezuela, and what happened to the media in the process: www.narconews.com We beg your close attention to the facts, translations and links in our report, "Three Days That Shook The Media." The story is about democracy in Venezuela and in our América. It is also about the evidence unearthed of massive US government involvement in the failed coup d'etat. And the story is also about you and me, as true democracy always is; We, The People, and about the Authentic Journalism Renaissance, and a discredited commercial mass media that will never, ever, be allowed to attempt again what it tried and failed to accomplish on these three historic days. from somewhere in a country called America, Al Giordano Publisher The Narco News Bulletin Also see a "timeline" of Chavez "crimes" against George WWIII & Company that supposedly justified the attempted coup, reported by Iran Daily, an English-language newspaper in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Sample this: "Chavez incurred Bush's wrath when he accused the US of killing children and innocent people in its war on terrorism in Afghanistan, in the wake of the September 11 attacks on US soil. Relations further deteriorated when Chavez visited Washington's arch-enemies, Libya's Moamer Qadhafi and Iraqi President Saddam Hussein." ![]() 25JAN2001 Enron makes big money off California energy crisis One of the biggest beneficiaries of the California power crisis is a Texas energy conglomerate that more than any other single company has helped bankroll President Bush's political career. Enron Corporation of Houston is among a handful of a new generation of independent electric power brokers and producers that have reaped giant revenue increases from California's power shortages and higher natural gas prices nationwide. According to the January 2001 AP report. "Right behind Enron in campaign contributions from energy companies was Atlanta based Southern Co., whose Southern Energy subsidiary, recently renamed Mirant, is an electricity supplier in California." The smoking gun. Did Duh & Company do Enron's bidding during California's electricity crisis? See: Anthony York Salon.com - 16JAN2002 ![]() ![]() |
