07APR2002 The Palestinians AlterNet's new "War in the Middle East" Page > I pray for peace. the situation "over there" is daily more distressing. When the children kill themselves and others, they are killing part of us all. It is painful to the universe every time it happens no matter the reason. These are 1960s kids born in the 80s. Our generation stopped the Vietnam War. They or their children will eventually bring their oppressors down. Nothing new here, speaking of the 60s, with a continued war against the Zionists, Israelis and the Jews. The PLO and what has now become the PA brought us the Munich massacre. All parties have more faith and trust in their own "state" than they have in peace. They are not Gandhi. By God's Will, they are not Gandhi so stopping their "Vietnam War" with Malcolm's "by any means necessary" will not be stopped. Aye, cannot be stopped no matter how much it breaks our hearts. If a policy and philosophy of fairness prevailed rather than the policy of greed and generating obscene profits from the perpetuation of war for the sole (bottom line) purpose of military industrial complex products sales, such a brutal waging of war in pursuit of peace would not have become so extreme. Flying planes into buildings. Killing a couple dozen people in a coffee shop. Too cynical? Not at all. The U.S. military is a mighty force to take on with the hope of prevailing. The Israeli military ranks No.4 in the world. No easy task defeating them either. Dan Pipes says Arafat entered the "terrorism business" in 1965 and has never abandoned it. Dan is correct in everything he says about the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, except two things: 1. Israel, the United States, the Brits and/or the apartheid South African government, if the latter was still around, cannot ultimately prevail over the Palestinian, and 2. Arafat did not enter Dan Pipes' "terrorism business" - rather Arafat and the young suicides are in the "business" of liberating themselves and their generations from that which has become their oppressor. They won't quit, even since the 60s, and even until they are free. They're no different than us in that regard. > Given that--which is probably true--what hope for peace, can there be? Again... barring the emergence of a brilliant and powerful Palestinian leader -- a Ghandi, an MLK, Jr. -- is there any hope? No. There is no hope. Israel is history. The "zionist movement" as a movement, is much like the America experiment. Ultimately, neither of them are quite right enough to happen. Israel as Hebrew, Jew and/or Israeli-related will bite the dust sooner, by a hundred years or two hundred years sooner than what we think/thought of America re: democracy, freedom, and the like. While the idea of America brought great hope to all mankind, in the process of delivering on the promise, too many crimes were committed, even unfair policies as a matter of policy. Same with Israel. Finally a (safe) homeland? On the ashes of, or upon that which caused shame and humiliation to their own cousins - the Children of Abraham?? Abraham could not see the Israeli having been fair. Neither can anyone else except the Never Again crowd, and that with the "My Country Right or Wrong" or "The End justifies the Means" as a working number woven into their personal constitution. We cannot accept that with a clear conscience, not at the expense of one over the other UNLESS one is expendable. I am a Muslim. No Muslim is expendable. I grew up in L.A. Some of my very, very, very best friends who I dearly love today are Jews. None of them are expendable. So having said that, what about Israelis in Palestine? Under the present circumstances, they have no right to be there - not at the expense of the Palestinians and peace. How about we give the Israeli a nice chunk of Texas? With Crawford, Texas as their Capitol? and move the Wailing Wall brick by Holy brick to Texas too? just like they moved the London Bridge to Arizona... It may not be a satisfactory arrangement, but peace is better than what they've got now. The Texans will get usta the idea in time... But then THAT is precisely WHY we subscribe to the services of a comedy coach. The alternative? To die of a "no hope" broken heart. If, as we've seen in the Palestinian youth, it's then better to be dead than to live without hope. These recent days have caused me so much personal anguish. > They put their faith is in survival, but the more they FIGHT for it, the more they lose. Both sides. I agree. The reason I logically deduce the end of Israel (the state) is at hand so easily is because the Israeli have less (quantitatively) to lose than the Palestinian. On the other hand, the Palestinian has nothing to lose to fight to the death for the whole kangaroo. > I believe th '48 partition was a mistake... but even so, Israel & Israeli Jews exist, and that has to be accepted (with withdrawal from the occ. territories); yet, as Pipes says, "this violence has a much more ambitious set of goals: the destruction of the Jewish state itself." And justifiably so from the Palestinian and Abrahamic fairness point of view... I logically deduce that the Israeli have less heart for an all out fight to the death. The Palestinians are like the Cubans who with Fidel and Che ousted Batista & Company. That's a whole nother story but as per Michael's conversation with Mr. Roth in Godfather II, Mario had it right. My heart aches because the predictable American "policy makers" are duh, dumb, stupid, arrogant and ugly American enough to allow the assassination of Arafat. It will be a bigger mistake for America alone than killing Martin, Malcolm, RFK and JFK combined. So the end of "Israel" (not the Biblical people, but as real estate) is just around the corner. At the rate we're going as a nation, for 18 "terrorists" using our own planes crashed into our symbol(s) of American business and culture to be taken down, and along with it our freedoms and democracy, maybe we don't even have a hundred years left as a relatively "free" people. My heart aches for the innocents but I love Arafat in the same way I love Che. We know who killed Che, and who wears his wrist watch to this day. There is a JFK assassination connection there. For reasons I don't know, he and OJ still walk around... America and Americans and the Israeli, Jews and "zionists" will be blamed if anything bad happens to Arafat, and none will walk around so easy as the murderers of Nicole and JFK. Times have changed since MLK and Rodney King... 911 aside, the big story BEFORE 911 was, speaking of democracy, the 2000 theft of the Presidency. 911 allowed the usurpers even more cover in the covering up of their crime against Democrats and democrats. Please see our version of Hail to the Thief at: It's still as fresh an article as it was at about the time Linda Chavez was being considered for appointment as Secretary of Labor. What a joke. Forgive me for rambling on about it. What we all get to experience just now is a kind of helplessness. Beyond complaining to one another, there's little we can do to aid in the process. We just hafta wait... for the other shoe to drop and that muttering you hear?? That's just me sayin': Those jerks!! 08APR2002 Pipes and Freidman - Speaking of "Those jerks!" Tom Freidman and Dan Pipes, are two of the most knowledgable of what is really happening in the Mideast, and even beyond Israel and Palestine. Unfortunately, both are so pro-Westworld and/or anti-Islam, they tend to use all the authority they have to also convey as a matter of fact, Israel is ok and anything Palestinian, Arab, Muslim and/or Islam is out to undermine and destroy the west. Again, they're not wrong, but that isn't the point. The west, and the U.S., the Brits and the Israeli are self-destructing all on their own, and the Pipes and Freidmans of this world want to blame "terrorists" for the west's troubles. The "west" is the trouble. Western ideas and ideals (including freedom and democracy) in the hands of madmen is simply bad stewardship of civilization-building resources. They are not interesting in civiization-building. They are interested in power and domination over others, at the expense of those same "others" who they deprive of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, as though there isn't enough to go around OR as though it's only for western whites, a vanishing species anyhow. The western whites on the verge of extinction are fighting (and exploiting) the rest of the world for their survival rather than join with (and nurture) the rest of the world that at the moment is subject to the whims and bribes of the west's war mongers and arms manufacturers, aka the Military Industrial Complex, so named and warned of by President Eisenhower. The civilization-in-progress and future is about a world that also includes billions of Chinese people, and a billion Muslims. The western policy makers don't and won't accept that simple reality, and will go down fighting. Usama bin Laden knows that. George WWIII & Company know that. Beyond knowing ordinary people are being victimized by the Taliban-types including Jerry Falwell & Company, and their making war for personal gain, what else is there to know? For the sake of a peaceful civilization-in-progress, even westerners must resist the evil ways of what has become the globally destructive policies of the west. ![]() 25JAN2001 Enron makes big money off California energy crisis One of the biggest beneficiaries of the California power crisis is a Texas energy conglomerate that more than any other single company has helped bankroll President Bush's political career. Enron Corporation of Houston is among a handful of a new generation of independent electric power brokers and producers that have reaped giant revenue increases from California's power shortages and higher natural gas prices nationwide. According to the January 2001 AP report. "Right behind Enron in campaign contributions from energy companies was Atlanta based Southern Co., whose Southern Energy subsidiary, recently renamed Mirant, is an electricity supplier in California." The smoking gun. Did Duh & Company do Enron's bidding during California's electricity crisis? See: Anthony York Salon.com - 16JAN2002 ![]() ![]() |
