TORINO, Italy (AP) - Sasha Cohen saved the best for last. And boy was it good.
With U.S. flags waving and chants of "USA! USA!" rocking the arena, the U.S. champion dazzled the judges with a sassy, sensational short program Tuesday night and slipped past world champion Irina Slutskaya of Russia by a slim .03 points.
Cohen's spectacular spirals and crisp footwork had the crowd clapping to the beat of "Dark Eyes," a
Russian folk tune. She even flashed some attitude as she concluded a solid evening of skating.

Two cheerleaders have been arrested in the US - for provoking a nightclub brawl by having sex in a toilet stall.
Carolina Panthers cheerleaders Renee Thomas, 20, and Angela Keathley, 26, allegedly had sex together in
a cubicle in a Florida nightclub.
They were then involved in a fight with angry women who had been waiting to use the toilet
at Banana Joe's in Channelside.
Tampa police spokeswoman Laura McElroy said: "Alcohol, sex and cheerleaders are apparently the ingredients for a hot story, because I am getting flooded with calls."
She said it was "clearly visible" to some of the women in line that Thomas and Keathley were "engaged in a sexual act" in a cubicle.
"They started to make a commotion," McElroy said. "They were saying, 'Hey, that's not appropriate here. We need to use the bathroom. Come on out.'"
Thomas and Keathley finally emerged several minutes later and started arguing with the other women, McElroy said.
That's when Thomas punched Melissa Holden, 26, of Lutz in the left eye, according to police.
Police arrested the cheerleaders. McElroy said they were "so intoxicated they could barely stand up." MORE
