The Dark Side Of Drugs For Pain Relief!
By Walt "dr health" Edwards
Aspirin has developed a reputation in conventional medical circles for being a useful approach for lowering the risk of heart disease -- just take one a day to prevent heart attack or stroke. But, a recent report states that it depends on your gender. It helps prevent stroke in women, but negative results to prevent heart attack. It is helpful to prevent stroke for men, but little help to prevent heart attack. Non-drug consideration is Nattokinase and it has no side effects.
Once you understand natural medical principles it is easy to see that any drug is not the solution for a chronic degenerative disease. Although it may seem to provide some initial benefit, the long-term overall view is rarely appreciated, as it nearly invariably shows a combination of side effects that far outweighs any benefit.
The case of Vioxx is quite clear. Tens of thousands of people around the world paid the price with their lives for choosing some temporary pain relief in exchange for a fatal heart attack. In the case of aspirin, if you read the studies by British and American researchers, you will see that taking aspirin can cause much more harm than good.
The chance of developing ulcers is just one potential side effect. Others include: * Increasing your risk of pancreatic cancer. * Damaging your kidneys. * Gastric bleeding.
Are there alternatives to aspirin? Simple lifestyle changes such as taking fish oil and exercising can have a tremendously positive effect on your cardiovascular system. If you are at a high risk of heart attack for one reason or another, or you simply know you won't be changing your lifestyle for the better, it may also be in your best interest to try Nattokinase before aspirin.
Nattokinase is a fibrinolytic (breaks up fibrin, which is found in clots) enzyme made from fermented soybeans. It is comparable to aspirin in its beneficial effects on your blood, but without any side effects. Using Nattokinase in combination with appropriate lifestyle and dietary modifications can provide excellent protection from heart attacks and many other forms of heart disease including stroke prevention.
Authors of a study funded by Vioxx maker Merck & Co. failed to disclose in a report published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2000 that three additional patients in a clinical study suffered heart attacks while using the now-withdrawn painkiller. But Merck is trying to get it back on the market.
Tylenol Most Common Cause of Liver Failure! Researchers examined the case histories of almost 700 liver-failure patients over a six-year period. They found that: * Cases of acute liver failure blamed on acetaminophen use rose sharply from 28 percent in 1998 to 51 percent five years later. * More patients overdosed unintentionally on acetaminophen (48 percent) than did so intentionally (44 percent) * Sixty-three percent who accidentally overdosed used a prescription acetaminophen compound while 38 percent had been taking two acetaminophen meds at the same time. * Some patients had been taking less than 4 grams of acetaminophen daily before their livers failed.
The consistent use of as little as 7.5 grams of acetaminophen a day may result in chronic illness by depleting your body of glutathione. If you keep your glutathione levels up, the damage from acetaminophen may be largely preventable.
Even conventional medicine recognizes this, as anyone who overdoses on it receives large doses of N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) in the emergency room. NAC is a precursor of glutathione and helps restore this necessary and important bionutrient when Tylenol suppresses it.
There are alternatives to Tylenol. If you want to treat any inflammatory pain without harming your health, you'll want to review herbs that may be useful for inflammatory-type pain: Ginger: This herb is anti-inflammatory and offers pain relief and stomach-settling properties. Fresh ginger works well steeped in boiling water as a tea or grated into vegetable juice. Boswellia: This herb contains specific active anti-inflammatory ingredients, referred to as boswellic acids that animal studies have shown significantly reduce inflammation. Benefits have been reported by rheumatoid arthritis patients. Fish Oils: The omega-3 fats EPA and DHA found in fish oil have been found, by many animal and clinical studies, to have anti-inflammatory properties that reduce joint inflammation and promote joint lubrication. Bromelain: This enzyme, found in pineapples, is a natural anti-inflammatory. It can be taken in supplement form, but eating fresh pineapple may also be helpful. Evening Primrose, Black Currant and Borage Oils: These contain the essential fatty acid gamma linolenic acid (GLA), which is useful for treating arthritic pain.
Thought For The Day... Pain is an important "clue" that your body is providing you of some type of underlying disorder. So seek to identify the cause of your pain rather than just covering it up with a drug. DLPA is a natural selection for pain relief. It blocks the pain messages from the source to the brain.
