Hullo!! Jerry Falwell appearance on "60 Minutes" - discussing Islam Since 911, I haven't bothered to rebut very much of what the nutsos have been saying. I was somewhat tickled that they didn't get it because they didn't deserve "The (accompanying and conscious contact) Comfort" known to authentic Muslims anyhow. Mainly I have been editorially critical of the Bush administration. But what's new? I was on their case from the day (December 13th, 2000), the U.S. Supreme Court "selected" a president in our behalf, and overrode the democratic election process. Jerry Falwell's appearance tonight on "60 Minutes" requires a warning that the Bush administration's spokesman (Falwell) is only making things worse by saying Islam teaches hate, and that Muhammad was a violent man, a man of war, and a terrorist. The KJV crowd, declaring themselves the enemy of Islam, and friends of Israel, will in actuality be the death of Israel. My full response is on our Overnight News page. And speaking of health, well, mental health... an ex-New Yorker friend sent us a Jimmy Breslin article. He's right about New York and New Yorkers - stung and hurt, but wrong as hell about Arabs. Thousands of "Arabs" live in NY, and are just as subject to the terror as New Yorkers... and since those Arabs live in New York, aren't they New Yorkers too?? I understand. I've only lived in Oregon since 1957, originally from California, so I'm not fully accepted by some Oregonians as an Oregonian. Some just consider me a New Yorker. But, yes, he's trying to say New York takes the "symbolic" terrorist hit while the rest of the U.S skates. Probably "color coded" true. But then I wouldn't want to live too near Crawford either. A link from the Breslin article however led me to another one more to my liking, and I posted it to a now archived Overnight News page, regarding "the president's real goal in Iraq." JohnBrown says the "official story" on Iraq has never made sense . The connection that the Bush administration has tried to draw between Iraq and al-Qaida has always seemed contrived and artificial. In fact, it was hard to believe that smart people in the Bush administration would start a major war based on such flimsy evidence... The pieces just didn't fit. Something else had to be going on; something was missing... A good article. Check it out. And posted just this morning is a letter from one of our local politicians, who offers some comfort and concern about Ashcroft's "pick and choose" States' Rights. In particular is the question of Oregon's initiative process and our voter approved "Death with Dignity" laws, and one posted the day before on the future of democracy in America. Also, over the recent days I received (and posted links to) a STATEMENT OF CONSCIENCE from Not In Our Name, and some peaceful suggestions on what we might do to stop the madness. Off/On the subject... Since the support of Israel is mainly an American expense, ordinary American Jews, the mostly disinterested Muslims and non-nutso Christians have to make efforts (together) to get the Palestinian "problem" solved, and maybe that can't happen BUT what can happen is that these groups (along with the anti-war groups in this country) need to get a handle on the 4th Reich take-over of this country. The most important domestic "truce" that must take place is between the Greens and the Demos, because at this juncture a vote for the Greens is an indirect vote FOR fascism IF and when Green votes are the deciding factor between a Demo or Republican being voted into office, even as we saw in the 2000 election. That was too close a gamble. Peace and justice is a lot less expensive than war. Who gains to profit from war, and at the expense of peace and justice? That's the problem. I mean, John Major's OLD girlfriend, who copped the other day about an OLD affair, and in her so copping lifted the lid on John Major's Carlyle Group activities. The Major/Carlyle connection may also explain WHY Tony Blair has caved in to the Military Industrial Complexers' convenient war on Iraq. It should also be noted that this article so annoyed the Mayor of Florence, and the Chief of Police, they abused their authority in a strictly legal sense, and phoned some of our advertisers to complain. Unfortunately for the government snitches, their unlawful and Ceausescu-like behavior backfired on them. Now, if anyone dies, instead of phoning the local mortician (who moonlights as mayor), they'll call over to Eugene, and hire someone else for the undertaking. As for crime in Florence? No favors, please. Next time you need help, call a hippie! For anyone as interested in stats as I am, which of course there is no one, visitors to ocnsignal.com's "index" page have either caught up to or passed the number of visits to the OCNS/Pepsi/Britney Spears page OR her numbers are diminishing. Certainly her numbers are dropping on the Yahoo Top 100 list, but not by much, and she is getting fewer click-throughs on the Amazon-dot-com counter that keeps track of book and record sales from our site. Books on the Bush Family as Bankers of Nazi Germany are getting as many hits as Britney's Hit Me One More Time CD. Not to worry though. I am adding another Pepsi girl; Latin American pop siren Shakira (in English and Spanish). Pepsi polled pepsi.com readers, asking who Britney should team up with for her next movie. The choices were: Julia Stiles and Matthew Lillard (16%), Shakira and J Lo (54%), Kim Cattrall and Randy Quaid (6%), and/or Justin Timberlake and Ricky Martin (24%). How about Britney and Eminem?? Since Alberto M. Giordano gave the 2002 NarcoNews (authentic) Journalism Award to Marshall Mathers, I am going to write an Eminem site and weave it into Amazon and the rest of our network in much the same way I did our Britney site. Also, we are featuring a Jack Kevorkian "Gift Certificate" for friend and foe alike (Sorry, not a valid offer in Florence, Oregon). Seriously, and back to my complaining about the Ashcroft attack on Oregonians going a bit far; we must resist this new kind of Washington, before they change the name of that town to Reichstag City, USA, and then they start re-naming our towns after the Carlyle-Enron hero crowd that presently includes the families of bin Laden and Bush, and Richard Armitage, John Ashcroft, John Bolton, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Stephen Cambone, Frank Carlucci, Big Dick Cheney and his wife Lynne, Eliot Cohen, Richard Darman, Devon Cross, Tom DeLay, Alexander Downer, Reuel Marc Gerecht, Ranaan Gissin, Michael Ledeen, Arthur Levitt, I. Lewis Libby, John Major, Richard Perle, Karl Otto Pohl, Condoleezza Rice, Karl Rove, Michael Rubin, David Rubenstein, Don Rumsfeld, George Schultz, Brent Scowcroft, Paul Wolfowitz and James Woolsey. These people give business and war a bad name. Best they leave our towns out of their re-name and political loop. Our Man in Ramallah, Sam Bahour, who left his comfortable home and surroundings here in the U.S., and went over to Palestine with the intention of starting up a shopping mall? His timing was terrible. No more than had he arrived and intifada started. That was two years ago. There he's been stuck, waiting for it to end so he can get back to business. With the settlements and water still not negotiable with the Israeli, there is no light in sight at the end of the intifada tunnel. Sam has been reduced to writing articles instead of helping his friends, neighbors and family conduct some local and international commercial trade. He posted a new article Wake up and smell the occupation. While people everywhere are complaining about how bad business is, and the stock market, Google is talking about an IPO? Very simply, to play the Internet card, statistically speaking adds 30% to the bottom line. To the degree we utilize the resources of the Internet is to the exact degree we don't necessarily hafta be effected by what's going on in the rest of the economy. Really. That has been our experience (so far, even this past summer); we did good, and we're looking forward to a great Holidays season ahead.
