All of the above - "The Allies"
Ed. note: While the U.S., the Brits, and what became "Israel"* in 1948 won WWII and The Cold War, revisionist history on the part of the victors has erased the Soviet Union led by Marxist/Communists as the driving force in stopping the fascist rampage of Benito Mussolini and Adolph Hitler.
After the American-British/Soviet victory over the fascists, the U.S. and the Brits in the name of anti-communism then turned against the Soviets. Year-by-year from the end of WWII until the Fall of the Wall, and inch-by-inch, the U.S. undermined Soviet and world social order in favor of a "New World Order" world wide; a resurrection of the very kind of fascism the U.S. and the Soviet Union defeated is back but today there is no Soviet Union to counter the Military Industrial Complex of the United States; the combination of mostly U.S. based global corporations and fascistic-like dictatorships all over the world who take bribes from the World Trade Organization, International Monitary Fund and the World Bank to keep their people oppressed, in poverty and in a perpetual state of war with one another. The respective nations' cash-crop resources are exploited and the people who harvest the crops or mine the minerals can't afford them because their governments use up all the export-derived cash to pay interest on loans made to dictators and to purchase more arms that the present day dictators broker to glean more commissions yet.
It should be remembered that the people who were trying to create a society in which people were equal, and where there wouldn't be rich and poor were the Marxist/Communists, and it should be remembered that powerful and rich fascists hated the communists for exactly that reason. The Marxist/Communists were actually the main target of the fascists. "Hitler thought Jews and communists were pretty much the same, and he planned early on to invade the Soviet Union and get rid of them."
The Soviets thought the governments in the U.S. and Britain and other countries that called themselves 'democracies' weren't really democratic, because the rich people, the big companies, basically controlled them. The Soviets thought people in those countries should do what they themselves had done in 1917 - overthrow their governments in revolutions.
So, as the Communist/Socialist/Greens barometer readings go, where are we today? That's one question. The other one is where do we want to go from here and with whom?
It is obvious that neither the ordinary American or the British can expect anything more from their respective governments than the ordinary German people got from the Nazi regime, or the citizens of the U.S.S.R. got from the Stalinists who assassinated Leon Trotsky and then used the Cold War as an excuse to steal the Bolshevik Revolution away from the people of the Soviet Union and the workers of the world. We as working people must get back to where we lost it; to restore the workers' unions, and to once and for all take our respective governments back from the usurpers and oppressors world wide.
*Ironically, after the deaths of 6 million Jews in what is know as the Holocaust, and at the hands of Hitler and his Nazi regime, and riding on the sympathy of such a horrific chapter in human history, the Jews, or some who call themselves Jews but who are Jews by blood line only, have actualized themselves to be Zionists or Israeli. As a point of reference, the Qur'anic definition of a Jew is probably as accurate as it gets; i.e., as "People of the Book" along with Christians, the followers of Jesus, and Sabians, the followers of John the Baptist, and cousin of Jesus.
The Jews, after being so badly oppressed in Europe, wound up in Palestine and have become potentially as oppressive and evil as the Nazi ever was with the fourth strongest military on the face of the earth, and they over-prove their power every day against the Palestinians whose land they've settled as their own alone and with less than no regard for the Palestinian. Furthermore, while they made Palestine into their own Zionist and Israeli image, the Jews got their mischief and military bought and paid for by the United States government directly, and indirectly by the U.S. taxpayer and the Jewish Lobby that has proven to wag the political dog from the state house to the White House and the Halls of Congress as well. There is no doubt about the power of the Jews in the United States, to the amount of U.S. taxpayer's dollars that are funneled to Israel, to conveniently reaping the rewards of using the U.S. military for solving their Saddam problem.
After the defeat of Germany and Japan, both defeats at the expense of American lives and the U.S. taxpayer, the vanquished became the victor in terms of economic well being on a per capita basis that exceeds that of the average U.S. taxpayer. Today, the ordinary German and Japanese workers are on the inevitable downward slide that accompanies corporate exploitation. It is indeed our time for the "Workers of the World (to) Unite!"
